Issue What is the best way to cure cold sore? Best Tip put some aftershave on it, it burns like hell but works. Others Try Abrevia -- make sure you put it on at the first sign of cold sore, worked for me, disappear in a few days. Keep it clean and covered with Carmex. http://www.health911.com/remedies/rem_co... Personally I use rubbing alcohol. It stings like a bastard ..bring tears to my eyes sometimes..but it kills the virus and dries them out real fast! I never get just one cold sore ..they come in groups.. this so far is the only methood I have found that works for me. I have gotten perscriptions from doctors and tried over the counter stuff.. nothing works. *(I have not tried abreeva..I found this methood before that so I never bothered..) Like I said it stings like a bastard..but it works. hot drinks, excess lemon or orange juice, try a cup of tea with lemon juice it works very well... Doctor advice.. The BEST way to heal a cold sore is to catch it at the tingling stage that first signals that it is coming on. If you can catch it at that stage, the absolute best thing to do is: 1: Hold ice to the area until it goes numb. About 10 to 15 minutes. 2. Dry the area and apply nail polish remover (yes, you read that right) to the area. Let it dry. 3. Using a Q-Tip, apply Abreva to the area. Let it dry. Repeat this process every two hours or so over the next few days. I do this every time I feel one coming on and I haven't had a cold sore in well over a year. I used to get them 6 or more times a year. Also, take an aspirin 4 times a day and take 3,000 mg of L-Lysine twice a day while you are doing the above. The aspirin will stop the swelling and the Lysine will send the cold sore into remission. If you don't get to it in time to do the above steps and the cold sore forms into a blister, then you are going to have to let it heal. The best way to speed healing time once it's a blister is this: Still take the aspirin and L-Lysine. These really will help. You can apply Aloe, but don't use your fingers. Apply with a Q-Tip. You can see a complete guide that explains in good detail here: http://www.coldsore911.com/cold-sore-tre... DON'T POP THE SORES. You can spread the virus around. Anywhere that clear liquid that is inside your cold sores goes is going to be infected. You DO NOT want cold sores all over your face, hands, etc. Yes, it CAN happen. Here are pictures to prove it (scroll to the bottom but watch out they are kind of gross): http://www.coldsore911.com/pictures-of-c... There is medicine called Choraphor that will heal cold sores in three days. It stings a bit but you only have to apply it once. After that, you're good to go. It will form a scab for a couple of days but then you are fine. I used it in those "oh no! I didn't get to it with ice/nailpolishremover/abreva in time!" times. Works like a charm. http://www.coldsore911.com/medicine-that... That is the absolute BEST way to treat cold sores that I have found. I hope my answer helps you! I used to get cold sores 6 or more times a year before I started looking for better ways to prevent and treat them. Cold sores can be the most embarrassing and humiliating thing ever. GOOD LUCK! |
