Tobacco firms are involved in a 拢100 million law suit about low tar cigarettes should they settle now?

Tobacco firms are involved in a 拢100 million law suit about low tar cigarettes should they settle now?

Best Tip
People know the dangers and chose to continue. You can't hold big corporations accountable, just because they have money. Where does it stop? Sue Ford Motors because you got hit by their car? Sue the Candy manufacturer because you choked on their sweet? Sorry, but so many of today's problems are through people not taking accountability for their own actions!

Others
If they settled it would open the flood gates of more and more lawsuits against them, as they would look weak. Even if they loose, with the time and money it would take to sue, it would scare people from doing it.
I wonder... people who have chosen to smoke are all getting money from the companies because of the damage done to their lungs and such... since this is happening more and more, how about the smokers all paying us non-smokers for damaging our lungs and such for smoking in our vicinity, even in places where it's not allowed to smoke????
Should who settle, the plaintiff or defendant?

I think it would be in the interests of the tobacco company to settle but if the plaintiff wants to make a point, they need to take it all the way.
Deny, deny, deny.
I'm a huge smoker....I'm trying to quite and I'm making some progress but that really so irrelevant to say cuz what i really feel is u quit and not touch a cigarette again..not like...ok..i smoked less today....
i'm sorry i ever got started..i feel the effects of smoking everyday..and u can't say.."just quit"..u know its so bad for u..and i know..but I CAN'T!
and I'll tell u why I'm cutting it down not..cuz they raised the prices for cigarettes in my country a lot and they are getting more and more expensive...so...my point is..if u ain't got them money or the actually cigarette...your are not gonna smoke! it's the only way..they should close down the tobacco firms...it ain't their fault in the end but still...only they can stop it.....moast people are to stupid to quit in some other way
yes and here's why ~ this particular suit is about people TRYING to cut down on the KNOWN risks of cigarette smoking and being LIED to by the tobacco firms about the way to do so. Personally, I switched to "light" cigarettes because I thought it would lower my health risks and consequently also lower the inherent health risks of those around me who had NOT chosen to take those risks. If I had been told NO that really won't help, then I would have been better able to make an INFORMED decision, as it is, however; all I did was to get even MORE addicted to something I knew to be bad for me in the process of trying to minimize risks WHILE TRYING TO QUIT. I quit regular cigarettes for a period of just over 3 years (yeah I know stupid to start again but that was MY choice) with relatively few problems. BUT when I tried to quit the "light" cigarettes it took over 5 years to quit with a lot of complications so I am thinking maybe they also somehow fiddled with the addictive factor OR maybe I just got weaker in my desire to battle the addiction but I really don't think so since I quit the first time for a boyfriend and the second time was for ME and my kids so the desire should have been stronger
