*Health Issues>>>Cancer issues>>>What are the chances of my best friend's dad surviving this? |
Issue He had a mild stroke and they diagnosed him with stage 3 lung cancer. This is inoperable but they sent him home to prepare for chemo at another date. He then suffered a second stroke that has severely hindered and crippled him mentally and physically. What are the chances of surviving stage three, and did the second devastating stroke make his chances of surviving the cancer much slimmer. I only ask you this as I'm not in position to speak to the Doctor and I only see my friend but once a week. Thank you. Best Tip Your friend will need a lot of support. The amount of time depends on the person and his personal battle to fight the cancer. My friend was told 3 months and she lived 17 months. She may have lived longer, but she had to put her dog to sleep because the dog was diagnosed with cancer and nothing could be done. She gave up the battle of fighting her lung cancer after she lost her dog. She was ready to move on . . . Again, your friend will need a lot of support. If you are close to the family, help with grocery shopping, yard work, trips to the doctors, etc. Give them time to focus on dad. Source(s): http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/lun... Others my thoughts and prayers are with you all. that is one of the worst things I've ever heard. It depends on his age, if he is in his 40鈥檚 it is from 6 months to 2 years max, the higher age the shorter time he will live. lung cancers are fatal within 6-12 months. most probably his stroke is due to cancer metastasis (deposition) from the lung to the brain. Unfortunatelly no much can be done now. the most important thing is psychological support & be pain free if possible. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.. Best Wishes |
