i have a toothache from a cavity?

Issue
it hurts like hell on and off...what, besides pain killers, can stop the pain? i can't get to the dentist right now either.

Best Tip
In addition to using the pain medication of your choice, sleep on an extra pillow to elevate your head. Sleep on the side that does NOT have a toothache. If that doesn't work, you can move to a recliner or the sofa so you can keep your head really elevated. This will minimize the blood flow to the area and therefore minimize the throbbing and pain. This might help you make it through the night until you can see a dentist.

Others
try sucking on cloves to relieve the pain.
Do you have a dentist you can call?
Antibiotics would really help because you may have an abscess or infection. If you can get to the dentist at least call your doctor and get antibiotics to help with the pain and infection. Good luck.
Not much can kill the pain. I would call your dentist. They normally see after hours patients if there is an emergency. There should be a way to contact him or her.
warm salt water rinses should do the trick temporarily........if you have sensitivity or pain from cold that means your nerve is irritated but it could be saved by a normal ,maybe deep, filling but if it starts hurting with hot that means the nerve is going south on you and you need a root canal treatment
Oral gel works the best... for a fast toothache relief of pain Walgreen's sell it. about $7.00
I have used it alot, and it works very good for me. But use the extra strength.....
