Swollen Throat Glands? |
Issue I noticed that my throat gland on the right side is swollen. Its not sore or anything, butit seems to always be swelling up from time to time for a few minutes. Is there anyway to keep the swelling down and what is the cause of this? Coutld a constant sore throat be from braces also? Best Tip Swollen glands in your throat signify an infection of some kind. If you're not feeling well, go to the doctor. Others allergies, tonsils, strep throat and gland problems. see a Dr. it could be a gland, throat or even an allergy problem. If it doesn't hurt I wouldn't be too concerned about it. If you are a teen (presuming, as you mention braces) then you could have Mononucleosis, which virtually every teen gets whether they know it or not, aka 'the kissing disease'. If you're not keeping your braces clean then you could have a throat infection which is causing your glands to swell. Take 2000 mg of Vitamin C a day, and 2 Acetaminophen (Tylenol) every 4 hours and see if the swelling goes down. I would try ibuprophen, and garggling salt water for afew minutes. You could also try sipping on Licorice Root Tea. It seems odd to me that a lymph gland would swell only for a few minutes at the time. I wonder if it is really your submandibular salivary gland... That has happened to me before and it was because i had a real bad case of strepthroat. I was sick for two weeks! Try gargleing warm salt water or take some medication. If it doesn't hurt then I doubt it is strepthroat.Go to the doctor. All they did to me was swob my throat, prick my finger, and give me a real bad shot. And if you think it is because of your braces then schedule an ortho. appointment. |
