I need 6 crowns on my teeth. Worn them down because of tooth grinding.? |
Issue It's going to cost, according to my dentist, almost 拢2000. That's NHS prices. I'm thinking of Polish dentists or anything like that. Anybody had any experiences they'd be willing to share? Best Tip I have lived in Poland for the last two years and have used the Polish dentists. Two months ago my brother came to visit us and had his crowns and bridge work sorted. In the UK he was told to expect a bill for over 拢2000. He had the work done in Poland and is delighted with the results which cost just under 拢300. For my own experiences i have had two white fillings plus a sort off sand blast treatment ( heavy smoker) Total of 3 hours in the chair total cost was under 拢60. If that had been UK i would have been in the chair ten minutes for 拢100 and got two silver fillings and no sand blast. Cant speak highly enough of Polish dentistry Hi again. My dentist does not speak a word of English. Fortunatley I speak Polish. Will make enquiries for an English speaking dentist. Others i'm in need of one crown for a back tooth. I know that each crown is very very expensive and some health insurances cover a portion of the cost. before you commit ask the dentist for before and after photos of actual patients so you can see their work, not all dentists do a good job with the cosmetic part of teeth. i wish i could help more good luck I know a few people who do that, and I think they're all very stupid. Not that this will help you, obviously, but since Yahoo seem intent on sending me violation notices for mild questions about cake preference, then bollocks to it, I will say whatever I want. i dont know sorry I've had a few of my teeth crowned or capped, and it is expensive but worth doing. They look great afterwards and won't wear down or decay again. I really wouldn't like to comment about going abroad to have it done. All I can say is it is worth doing for cosmetic purposes but don't let your dentist bully you in to having the less obvious ones done first - get them done as you can afford them, and get the most obvious, frontal ones done first. If they are not unsightly or giving you pain then it's not urgent, but still worth doing, one by one, gradually. 拢2000 does sound like a lot of money I know, and it probably came as a shock to hear it all at once but think of the longer term. Your teeth are your teeth and you should look after them. You don't want to risk losing them altogether and then have the choice of either dentures or implants (which are about 拢2000 per tooth). To the person who "strongly disagrees" with me, below:- I did stress if it were for cosmetic reason and not causing pain. However, dentists *do* bully people into getting the less obvious teeth done first, knowing they will have to keep up the treatment to get the teeth that matter to them done eventually. IT IS HOW THEY MAKE MORE MONEY OUT OF YOU. As a private patient you can dictate what work you want done, so don't be lectured to by anyone - it's your teeth, your money and your choice. I strongly disagree with the above participant. Dentists usually suggest that patients do the back teeth first because these are much more important if you want to keep chewing comfortably for the rest of your life. Your looks won't be much good if you can only eat like a sparrow on your front teeth. So, if you have a limited budget, and have to start one at a time, it will be generally better for you in the long term if you consolidate your back teeth first. There are exceptions of course, and everyone has to be assessed individually. Tooth grinding leading to excessive wear is very unlikely - I would be asking if there are other factors like acidic drink intake e.g soft drinks, juices, sports drinks,... If you are going to spend a lot of money, then your dentist should be able to suggest why you have reached this predicament, and what you can do to prevent it happening to other teeth. Later... I am sorry to read more from Sean H above. Yes, unfortunately, there are dentists who will bully people, just like other occupations. It makes things hard for the honest dentists. Alternatively, there are some patients who don't listen to the advice that I give them, or have unrealistic expectations and expect miracles. Sometimes patients can be bullies too. That's fine, I simply tell that I don't think I'm the dentist for them, and suggest they find someone else. It's a 2-way street called co-operation, and I don't need aggro. I enjoy helping people with my skills - I'm not getting paid for Tips. do you have a local dental hospital? sometimes they will do extensive work like this cheaper to allow the trainees get experience. they are FULLY supervised so it is safe! If you do get them done i suggest a mouth shield at night to prevent futher grinding problems,,. good luck |
