Dental problem?

Issue
I had a filling put in about 3 months ago its a white filling, anyway it didnt help the tooth it was sensitive to cold and biting on something hard before I had it put in but after I had it put in the dentist said that should fix it but its worse, so I went back to the dentist and he says it can take up to a year for a white filling to lose its sensitivity and I should just wait it out, but now its hurting bad like if i eat ice cream or drink something cold it will turn into a regular toothache and doesnt go away until I take some pain meds for it. What should I do I do not want any more root canals.

Best Tip
well, honestly, I had my first filling put in 2 years ago, my tooth wasn't even sensitive but OH BABY! It hurt like a mother when he was finished! It still is very sensitive, I can't drink ice in liquids or have excessive cold stuff....... and it really does suck. your cavity is gone so you do not hafta worry about extra rotting leading to a root canal, but what i do is if i plan on having cold liquids at a theme park or even if i go to medieval times i will take the liquid orajel and put it on the base of that particular molar. it numbs the feeling. sometimes certain teeth will never build up a resistance.... at least that's my input!

Call your dentist again. Maybe try sensitive teeth toothpaste.?
Sweet baby Jesus and the orphans! Get em yanked out like me!
try eating right, less sweat, alcohol, acid beverage, brush regular that should help after a while, but you have to keep on doing it, while using listerine two time day.
try using sensitive toothpaste, and either ask your dentist or doctor if they can prescribe you some pain meds, or take ibuprofen.
I don't know what you should do but I can tell you what I did. I never had the white kind of fillings, but I had the metal kind and sometimes they did that too. I had all mine pulled soon as I was 18 cuz they were fallin apart so bad it would cost too much to fix them anyway. Toothaches really suck but thank God I'll never have 1 again.
I had something similar happen recently. You might go back to the dentist and ask if there is a possibility it could be absessed or if a medicated filling might help.
