I went to the Dentist today and I am in real pain? |
Issue I went to the dentist for a routine extraction of a molar. When the dentist pulled it some of the root stayed in. He ended up having to put stiches where he pulled the tooth. Now I am in agonizing pain. It hurts so bad that I can hardly even talk. He gave me Vicodin ES for the pain but they aren't even close to killing it. I haven't smoked so it can't be a dry socket. I have developed a sore throat and pain into my ear. I called the dentist but he hasn't returned my calls. Any advice from anyone? Best Tip Sometimes an extraction can be very difficult (sounds like yours was) all the pushing and pulling is traumatizing to the area around the extraction site and can cause pain in the other areas you described. Pain from the injections and holding your mouth open will also happen. If you haven't put ice on your face (20 min on 20 min off) every hour, eat cool things like ice cream, yogurt, Popsicles. The vicodin is good for pain but Advil is better for swelling, they can be taken together because they are different types of drugs but check with your pharmacist ( i don't know what else you take and don't want to cause you harm). Call the dentist first thing in the am and let him know that you had been calling. Dry socket can still happen even if you don't smoke but usually not within a day it usually takes 3 to 5 days. I hope this helps, good luck. Source(s): I am a cda Others Go to your local ER or immediate care center. Vicodin does not work for my son at all. They can prescribe another pain medication for you. (On the way use an ice pack, it will help keep the swelling down, but will do little for the pain). quickly get yourself some OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT. from the health food store or some chemists stock it as well. take 1-2 caps in water each hour until u get relief, but it may only take 20 minutes. when i was sick and in pain i had a cup of green tea as well as half a cup of olive leaf extract in water, i was better in 3 hours I went through the same thing and I dealt with the pain for almost 3 weeks. I would go see a different dentist and get it double checked. There is a pain killer they can give you and a mouth rinse that you can use to help a little bit.
