Has anyone had any problems with their kids not eating after getting a palate expander put in their mouth?

Best Tip
they aren't exactly the most comfortable things in the world..especially when starting off. and the length of it sometimes goes too far back verging upon stimulating the gag reflex, which could be what is suppressing your child's hunger.
trying getting them to eat soup, yoghurt is better as it is soothing too. smoothies and juices will provide nutrition since they aren't eating much

Yes my son says it hurt & he had trouble swolloing for about a week hes had the braces & expander for about 2 months now it getts easeyer to eat as he gets more used to it
Ive had personal experience. I had mine for almost a year. The first few months I only could eat soft foods or liquids. The Boost, Ensure drinks made a big difference, as a meal replacement. Eventually it gets easier to eat solid foods. A big problem with that is the fact that food gets stuck above the expander and the sides.
