i been taking clindamycin 300mg for a mouth i still have a small abscess could i still have a infection?

Issue
the clindamycin helped it made the abscess go down but not all the way down the abscess is on my gum could i still have infection it wont go down falt thiers no puss in it just blood

Best Tip
How did you get 30 days-worth of clindamycin? This is a long time to take an antibiotic without resolving the source of the infection.

Clindamycin is also known for causing pseudomembranous colitis (Do a search on that term.), especially when you take it for a long time.

Just taking an antibiotic will almost NEVER be sufficient treatment in and of itself for a dental infection. You will almost ALWAYS need some kind of definitive treatment once the infection is somewhat controlled by antibiotics.

Others
STOP taking it! Antibiotics are only meant to be taken for about a week. Keep taking antibiotics and they kill off your normal flora (bacterias that normally reside in your body that do not harm you). When these die off other bacteria tend to thrive which are known as opportunistic bacteria cuz they take that opportunity to grow, are those aren't friendly neither. That means also means your antibodies die off or are inhibited from being produced so you leave yourself open to all sorts of infections and illnesses like a fatal form of diarrhea, no I'm not joking.

You will need a root canal, no way around it. If left untreated, an abcess can actually lead to death in rare cases. So I suggest you call up a dentist ASAP!
