I've had a temporary cap put on my molar as of last Wednesday...it's still throbbing and sore. Normal? |
Issue Ibuprofen makes the pain go for a few hours, but then later it's back. Best Tip Sounds normal to me. You can try putting Anbesol on the gum around the tooth to help it. Also, stay away from real cold or real hot beverages, as they irritate the nerve and make it feel worse. Only chew on the other side. If it's going to be awhile before the permanent crown is ready and it's still bothering you, then call the dentist and let them know. Good luck! Source(s): I've had 2 crowns. Others did they do root canal? if so yes its normal, but mention it when you go back for the real cap if its still hurting, My wife's temporary crown was sore for a few months. It can happen. I think you better bring this up with your dentist. I've had four crowns without any such pain. Perhaps the nerve inside is dying because it got explosed to air. It REALLY hurts when it is dying. But after it's dead, there is no feeling. Ahhhh. I think I would give the dentist a call. A little soreness seems normal, but if it's throbbing that could be a sign of infection. Better safe than sorry! Gargling with warm salt water might help, also. Yea temps suck. they don't last to long so keep popping the beans. No gum or hard candy etc. i swallowed one once and it never came out. Yes it will throb-try using aleve instead of ibuprofen |
