is whiting tooth paste bad for your teeth?

Issue
is whiting tooth paste bad for your teeth?

Best Tip
whiting tooth paste can be bad for your teeth. What they use in the whitining process is a abrasive and that can over time wear down the enamal on your teeth making them hypersensitive. You might try alternating whiting paste with regular paste so as not to wear down your teeth Source(s): I just came from the dentist asked this same question.

Others
I don't see why it should be. I use it all the time and my teeth are described as healthy by my dentist. Now if you EAT it, that might not be good! :)
whitening toothpaste isn't awful for your teeth. it does have some more harsh abrasive ingredients in it than normal toothpaste does in hopes that it will polish off more surface stains. we're talking on the order of micrometers of enamel that are being abraded off, but over time it may start to accumulate. rather than scrubbing with whitening toothpaste for a prolonged period of time, you may want to consider bleaching your teeth with a carbamide peroxide whitening product. ideally, this would be dispensed in clear custom plastic trays by your dentist to get the best result, but since most people here are stingy about anything that involves their health and are always looking for the shortcut for some reason, try some crest whitening strips first and see if that helps.
yes. use dog tooth paste instead.
I totaly agree with johnny, and code, most people don't know that they should use a regular toothpaste with floride and nothing else.
