it depends upon how bad they are. a few months minimun. You first need to start consistantly caring for them and never slacking. When you go to the dentist to have cleanings and the doc says some inflamation and redness but no real need for anything more than your regular 6 month cleanings, then about a month of my above mentioned. HOWEVER, if your doc says you need a deep cleaning, then I say a minimum of 3 months. Once you get a deep cleaning done, most insurance covers at like 80% give or take of 2 additional cleanings, totaling you at four cleanings a year, 1 every 3 months for at least 1 year. They should heal in 2 to 4 weeks, as long as you brush and floss well everyday, yea i kinda have the same problem, some areas of my gums are constantly red, these areas don't seem to be pinking up anytime soon, even though i just had a cleaning 3 weeks ago.
"Bad gums" which is called gingivitis is an infection in your mouth. The best way to get rid of ginigivitis is by flossing daily and by brushing two times aday for 2 mins each time. When flossing make sure that you make a "C" shape around the tooth and go under the gum line. It's important to get rid of ginigivitis, we now know that the bacteria that causes gingivitis can go to your heart and cause heart problems or go to your pancreas and cause diabetes. Ginigivitis is reversable by flossing but if you don't floss it will turn into periodontits which is boneloss and is not reversable.
