Can you tell me anything about white spots? |
Issue I have had this white spot on my tooth sinse about the fith grade, my dentist says it is from being ill and the antibiotic did it? is this true? What can i do to get rid of it? I whitened my teeth all the time and doesnt work? Best Tip Probably a hint of calcium...stay away from alot of sugar drink and gum, or it can get larger. Others This could very well be a result of the medication, also once it is a different color , about the only way to change it is to have a dentist work on it. Sorry, but this happens alot with babies & various meds or milk products. Personal experience with my son as a baby, he drank a different type of milk & his teeth changed colors in different areas. Your dentist is right. This sounds like "hypocalcification" and it is usually due to an illness or some trauma. If you try whiten your teeth, this will not go away. The best thing to do is have your dentist TRY to polish it off the surface. Sometimes, we get lucky and find that the white spots are very superficial. If that doesn't work, go ahead and get some bonding material placed over it - right at that visit - to cover it up. It's quick and easy and relatively cheap. |
