Issue My daughter just got her first wisdom tooth at age 12. Is this normal and what should I do? Best Tip It's normal. And unless it's bothering her you don't have to do anything. If it's bothering her or her teeth are looking crammed in then make an appointment with the dentist to get his opinion. Others I am a dental hygienist...Are you sure it actaully is a wisdom tooth and not her second molar? (which is also called the 12 year molar). Perhaps she is is retaining some baby teeth in the front, so your count from the front may be off slightly??? Yes, its normal, some people get them, some don't. If its not bothering her, its fine, leave it as it is. If it is causing her pain, go see a dentist. It may be growing at an odd angle or be squashing other teeth in her mouth. Make sure it isnt a molar. if it is a wisdom tooth than thats not unheard of and if there is no pain than i wouldnt worry. But my best guess is that the tooth is actually a molar That's pretty early. At age 12, there should be two larger teeth (the molars) that look pretty much like each other. If she has THREE in a row that look pretty much like each other, then it's a wosdom tooth. Otherwise, it's her 12 year molar arriving right on schedule. I don't think I've personally seen anyone get a wisdom tooth at age 12. I think 14 is the youngest I've seen, but I can't be sure... are you sure its not her molars??? Im 19 and right now my wisdom teeth are growing in! Im much wiser now.. lolzzz.haha |
