Should cats get their teeth cleaned? |
Issue Should cats get their teeth cleaned? Best Tip Getting this done will not be something you regret. It is good for your cat to get the plaque and decay off, and good for you because those are the things that cause bad breath! Just talk to your vet about it. Others NO its a cat no they are clean Our cat had a large tooth abcess that would not have been detected had we not done this. I thought it was rediculous when the vet suggested it, but now I'm glad we did it. Of course, you can also just get your vet to check your cat's teeth and forget about the cleaning portion. In all the years that I have had cats, the vet never mentioned having their teeth cleaned. But he did remind me to have my 2 dogs (Yorkies) teeth cleaned. So I am guessing you don't need to. I would check with your vet. Yes, definitely. Their teeth get plaque and tartar which can break off and end up in their liver, causing damage. Your vet should recommend it when it's time, or when he/she sees a problem. Also, you'll notice BAD breath when your cat starts having problems that lead to decay. PS, do NOT listen to weezy627 or SR; they don't know what they're talking about. Just had some extensive (but done in time) work on my 9 year old Tabby. |
