I just got braces and i need some help..?

Issue
ok . i just go tbraces today i i found out that i annot bite down as i used to. my two front teeth touch the bottom brackets. also, is there any way to relieve the pain. i have been taking tylenol but it does not seem to be working

Best Tip
My braces just got tightened yesterday so I feel your pain!

Swish warm salt water around in your mouth, you'll be surprised, it helps.

Take a pain reliever that is not Tyelnol. If you take tylelnol for an extended period of time it could hurt your liver, take advil or another brand.

Get an EXTRA SOFT bristle toothbrush, when your teeth hurt a lot use it to GENTLY massage your gums using warm water.

Your gums will probably be a bit swolen, and your bite will change with every change they make to your braces. Your front teeth touching the bottom brackets could just be because of the change being made. You could call your orthodontist to ask, or you could simply wait it out a few days and see if it changes.

Sometimes it will feel like they've done more bad than good but trust me, it will sort itself out.

Oh, and braces wax is your new best friend!

Good Luck! Source(s): My own mouth.

Others
(1) be patient, the pain should go away quickly, and in the meantime just eat easy to eat foods, that's all

(2) if you do believe that there are mechanical problems such as the one you describe, then obviously you should tell your orthodontist asap. But unless he / she is incompetent, he / she would not have let you leave with such a big problem - so maybe you have not seen this properly

good luck
O hun its iight i have them to pretty soon you will get use to the bite let ur dentist know that its bothering you and theres a ointment you can get to numb your gums at a drug store do not get the baby or kids it dosnt last long its like teething medicane???? k any more questions talk to me emily_9253@yahoo.com
It'll take a while to get used to it all. I remember being in pain for days after I first got them on. Try motrin or advil for the pain. If it hurts for more than a couple of days, the orthodontist might have to loosen the braces to alleviate the pain a bit.

Hopefully it'll be a quick process for you.

Good luck!!
it takes time to get used to. i had mine in 3rd grade and i'm 24 now...it was worth it!
If your two front teeth touch the bottom brackets you should have told the orthodontist when they were putting them on to ask if it is normal or not. I would still call to ask. They may tell you that in time your teeth or your bite will move and they will no longer touch the bottom brackets. This does not help you in the mean time because it is harder to chew, so you'll need to adjust to eating food differently. If you're wearing headgear too, then in time the front teeth won't touch the brackets as your bit moves/corrects itself.

The dull, aching pain is unfortunately something that comes with moving teeth. This is likely to happen for a few days each month when they tighten or adjust them and go away after a few days. If Tylenol isn't working, check to see that you are taking the maximum dosage. If not, increase your dosage but do not exceed the maximum as it may harm your body. Try to only take Tylenol the first few days after your braces are tightened each month. If the pain doesn't go away and is constant, you should tell your ortho at the next visit. The pain happens because the teeth are moving in your jaw.

If Tylenol doesn't work, try another over the counter pain reliever. Lastly, remember what this pain feels like and when you get your braces off, wear your retainer religiously because if you don't your teeth will move back again and you will need to have braces as an adult, and more pain. Don't go through it twice unless you have to.
