is water in the eyeball aka macular oedema responsible for the intermittent fogging of my vision?

Best Tip
Macular Oedema IS treatable. I know, because I have suffered from it.

The fogging is intermittant, but if its not treated will eventually lead to severe visual impairment.

I have been treated for my macular oedema by having intra-vitreal steroid injections, using triamcinalone. The injection is carried out under clean conditions in an operating theatre. Usually, within a week, the areas of fluid infront of the retina have dried, and full vision is restored.

A side effect of these steroid injections can be the formation of cataract (the steroid damages the lens material). I have had multiple injections to both eyes, and have also had cataract extraction and intra-occular lens implantations.

Another possible side effect is increased intra-occular pressure, or a secondary glaucoma, but this is easily treated by pressure controlling eye drops.

My vision now is good. My acuity is 6 / 9.5 in both eyes.I need to have the injections repeated every 6 months, as the steroid does not last forever, it seems to break down afer around 5 months.

Hope this information helps. Source(s): I work in a operating theatre, and suffer with this condition.

You could have a semi detached retna. If it becomes fully detached you could go blind for a bit. Go to the doctor and have it checked out.
yes, it depends on whether the oedaema is wet or dry. its like catatracts.. one is treatable, the other isnt so treatable but i dont know which is which.. (my neighbour is 90 and hes just had it done) and yes he told me all about it..
If you have diabetes could be glaucoma as 2 are linked get checked out x
