Issue what is pancreas disease? Best Tip There are different pancreas diseases. Diabetes mellitus...usually thought of as type 1's because the pancreas doesn't make insulin. In type 2 the pancreas is making insulin, the cells are just resistant. Acute pancreatitis ....This condition occurs when the pancreas becomes quickly and severely inflamed. The major causes are: Heavy alcohol ingestion, Gallstones or gallbladder disease, Trauma, Drugs, High blood fats (triglycerides), Heredity Unknown factors Chronic pancreatitis..usually alcoholics and binge drinkers Pancreatic enzyme deficiency...the pancreas is not making the enzymes necessary to break down protein fat and carbs. Yes, the pancreas does a lot more than just produces insulin! Pancreas tumor ...they can be benign or cancerous. sometimes benign tumors cause no problems, sometimes they cause over or underproduction of the hormones or enzymes produced in the pancreas. Others I am a diabetic and my pancreas does not work at all. There are some pancreas' that work a little but not enough and then there are those like mine.
