Issue i want to start running and get into shape...how do i start the whole process?....what do i need to do before i even start to run?? Best Tip Lots of new runners get carried away and try to do too much too soon. This can lead to disappointment, loss of enthusiasm and possibly injury. If you want to be able to enjoy running for the rest of your life, start out slowly and build up. One of the benefits of running is that you do not need to spend a fortune on kit. The one essential item is a pair of running shoes, and you should not scrimp on getting the right pair for you. (If you are a woman, you also need a decent sports bra). Go to a specialist running shop, not a general sports store. running clubs are an excellent source of advice and inspiration for beginners. Others Get a great pair of cushioning running shoes. Wear clothes that keep you cool. Start at jogging 2 miles, when you get tired, just keep walking. Nothing, just start running silly. You need to invest in a really good pair of running shoes. You should also find a 5k race in your area and start by training for that (it will give some motivation). You can start with 1.5 miles 3x per week and work up to 3 miles (a 5k is 3.1 miles). Hey, I am a a big runner. Love doing it. What you need to do is ask yourself what you want to achieve. Some people run for the heck of it. (Me for instance) So for weight issues or others to get ready for a marthan thats on their "To Do" list. I suggest you start off by grabbing a pair of tennies, shorts and a comfy shirt (depends on weather) and just go run. Bring a friend or two if you want. Have fun with it. Don't worry about how far you go or how fast or how long. That comes later. get a pair of good, comfotable running shoes, do not start out too much too soon, could lead to injuries. Like I have shin splints, and not really sure why. But also have decent arch support, and try not to run on too many different surfaces, which could cause pain too. runner myself |
