Issue ...when you are taught about evacuating a building thats on fire you are always told that you should walk, not run, yet when you look at those little green signs above fire exits there is always a little man in a running pose? Seriously if you are work now have a look at the sign above the door. I dont get it! Best Tip He's the guy who's trampling everyone else under foot, and the only survivor because just after he pushed the last person to the ground and escaped then the whole building collapsed. Others This is to give you a visual sense of urgency. coz some people know that running can lead 2 a trip or a fall. Most of us use common-sense, rather than pick on information signs, huh? I'm sure people in wheel-chairs must have the same problem with traffic signs. Walk/Don't walk. Bet they'd love 2 B able 2 walk across the road! Why walk and nor run...? Simple, it stops people from rushing for exits and in the process trampling each other and in the end slowing down the evacuation. Order is better. The picture might simply indicate walking fast, not running. Thats so true! Well, you should NEVER panic at a fire. Disaster+Panic= More casualties. If everyone is calm, then problems are easier to solve, and solutions can be easily drafted. Now about those "running" men in the exit signs... Well, if a building is on fire, it doesnt necessarily mean you should just be walking. <Hey look at me! I'm on fire, but they told me to walk!> I would try to get out as fast as I can without compromising the safety of others. So, if no one else is in the building, why wouldn't you run? Also, always remember. Care about your OWN safety (sorry, should have put this in earlier). You never know if there is intense heat in the next hallway or if the ceiling could suddenly collapse. During a fire, always take caution. The running man, I guess, is just there to be the one panicing for you. ^_^ Just saying. Rational thinking. Im rational. ^_^ |
