student nurse looking for advise?

Issue
Im in nursing scool first year. And we just learned how to give a shot. Im so nervouse about aspirating for IM injections.
What If i draw blood ?

Best Tip
I have given thousands of injections and have never aspirated blood. If you do you have to get a new needle and reinject in another area. Since you are injection into muscle you shouldn't have a problem. Get some oranges and practice injecting and aspirating. An orange has the same resistance as skin. I went through hundreds of oranges during my practice phase. Now I can give a pretty painless shot. I have even had kids say "wow" after I give them a shot. If you want to know the secret E-mail me cause I don't share my secrets with just anyone but would be happy to tell you. When faced with a live target don't act nervous be quick to dart the needle in and practice that nurse face that tells everyone you know exactly what you are doing.......You'll do great!!!! if u draw blood...then u inject it back in a try again!
If you draw blood, move the needle forward or back a little and aspirate again. You want to be in a place where you are not aspirating blood and then you can give the IM injection.

DO NOT, as Mr Moo suggests, try to replace the blood!

Just move the needle (forward or back) so you are not aspirating blood (and therefore not in a vein or artery) and then give the injection.

Following this, you may wish to apply a cotton ball or a small amount of gauze and apply PRESSURE to minimise the formation of a bruise.

[EDIT]
Well - there ya go. I got it wrong. The MANUAL says to stop and withdraw the needle. Prepare another dose in another needle. Do not inject the bloody solution.

The patient's arm will blow right off if you do it wrong.
Make sure you give an IM injection in the correct places
