That is called your Xyphoid Process. Hand placement is 2 fingers above the Xyphiod Process. Others STERNUM xiphyoid bone. its at the very bottom of your breast bone (aka sternum) The sternum. The bone that is in the center of your rib cage. Right below your breasts and above the stomach. nurse You locate the sternum, in the middle of the chest, then run your fingers up the intercostal arch to the ziphoid process. that is the key land mark for good cpr postion. You can then measure up from that point and begin compressions. Remember, the new ration is 30 compressions to 2 ventilations The sternum, so that you're applying pressure close enough to the heart to be effective. |
