When lifting weights how much protein should you have daily?

Issue
I've read in a number of places that you should eat 1.5x your weight in grams per day. For me that would be almost 350 grams a day, I don't see how that is possible. How do you eat that much protein in a day when even the most protein laden things have at most 30g in them??

Best Tip
Everything I've read have indicated that you should eat 1 gram of protein per day per pound of body weight. The 1.5 - 2.0 per pound is for those who are an elite category or are pumping roids.

To increase your protein intake, consider Whey Protein shakes and including lean cuts of protein. I prefer fish but a lot of people like chicken.

Don't go overly nuts about protein. It's just one (important) part of the equation of being a body builder. Just make sure you have .75 - 1.0 grams of protein per pound of body weight and you'll have more than enough.

Good luck. Source(s): Muscle and Fitness Magazine.

lol dont do 1.5x your weight. You seem to be a pretty small guy so id say about 80g should do you very well. maybe even up to 100 if you really tear your muscles up

its easy to get 350grams of protein, just drink crappy tasting protein supplement in drinks. Although, studies have shown that much protein is not good for your body.

A normal person that doesnt lift requires about 65g.

LOL you are a hulk! better boost it like 10 more grams! But 350 will hurt you in the long run.

BAH i dunno just eat chicken for lunch and dinner and eggs for breakfast. I just read 1.1-1.2g per Kg which for you doing the 1.2 would be 136. Thats for endurance training though.

I can tell ya right now that 466 will definately harm your kidneys. Plus you have to remember that these lifters most likely use roids allowing their bodies to use that protein up faster rebuilding than you can.
