Issue Can any one tell me how the drug Atonal differs from telmisartan for treating hypertension? Best Tip atenolol is a beta blocker and telmisartan is an ARB, different mechanism of actions and different side effects, generally both are good, good luck Others i dont no but thanks for the 2 points Look it up on webmd.com I use that site alot Please see the webpage for more details on Telmisartan (systemic). The druginfo on "Atonal" is not available. The generic name may be stated. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/drugi... i think it should be "Atenolol" . if you are sure that it's atonal so please tell me its pharmacological name(not brand name!) I'm trying to find it. however if you mean atenolol i should tell you that although both these drugs are using for hypertension they are from diffrent pharmacological category. telmisartan is an Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker while atenolol is a Beta Blocker(Beta1 Selective).so they have alot of diffrenences in dosings, contraindications, adverse affect and so on. 脽-blockers reduce the release of renin by inhibiting 脽-1 receptor stimulation; and the angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors block the conversion of inactive angiotensin I to the active hormone angiotensin II. |
