I for one do think that they are sincere, as I attended the International HIV/AIDS conference and was at the opening ceremonies, and heard their speeches.There was 30,000 people that attended from all over the world. They received a standing ovation, and brought many to tears. I think it is wonderful to see that people with so much money, are truly using it to help others.

They are first on the list of philanthropists.. I would accept their sincerity.
I think you almost have to believe they are sincere. For all the celebrities and successful business people out there, how many are actually putting their money into making the world a better place? Sure they can set up their own charitable foundations (better know as a tax shelter), or be spokespeople for charities; but not many of them realize what a big chunk of their change could do for the world at large.
On the other hand, financial success does not mean you have to share it in our Capitalist society.....
