*Health Issues>>>Injuries issues>>>A slight pain in the backside? |
Issue A couple of weeks ago, I slipped on some wet metal stairs, and fell on my bottom. I found it quite difficult, but not impossible, to move for the next couple of days, and a first-aider friend of mine said I had a bruised coccyx. It still aches a bit now, but it is worse when I have been running (I had to run across a level crossing today, and that set off the pain a bit worse). How long will it take for the pain to subside, and is there anythin I could/should do in the meantime? Thanks! :) Best Tip A bruised coccyx is not the end of the world. You will be waisting your money at your MDs office. Go see a chiropractor. It has been long enough. More than likely your sacrum is also "misaligned", or not moving correctly. Its like jamming your finger. The joint needs to be freed up so it can work properly. And even if you did break it, there is no treatment for a broken coccyx unless it is pushing on something it shouldn't, but it doesn't sound like yours is, nor was the fall hard enough to do it. Find one that also does soft tissue work. Stay away from heat and opt for the ice, 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off. Do that as long as you need, always cover the ice with a towel and never sleep with it on. Same applies for heat. You can try an over the counter med for pain and inflammation but ice will work as well. Good luck Others I've bruised mine twice, and both times it took about two/three weeks until the pain was gone completely, although it does subside as time goes along. lay in bed, take a sick day a hot tub would do wonders for you it does for me It took mine about 6 months to finally be free of the pain from a similar fall as yours. You may want to try a 'good chiropractor' as they can work miracles. I had mine bruised about 20 years ago and it hurt off and on for about 6 months. My chiropractor said that bone bruises are hard to heal and can cause pain for quite a while. |
