Issue I suspect my friend is lying. he said he had his appendiex out but only had 2 stitches and was back home 4hrs? Best Tip Two inches is ok for that surgery. But if he were suffering Appendicitis when he went into hospital then he would have needed IV antibiotics for a couple of days and been pretty sick with a high temperature. If he went in to have it removed as a planned procedure - then I guess thats possible - or maybe he discharged himself early against advice? Others Not to be rude....but he is your friend not your child. If he doesn't feel comfortable telling you whats going on. maybe you should just keep out of it. When I had my appendix surgery, I stood in hospital 5 days after the surgery took place, and I had absolutely NO complications. He couldn't have come home after 4 hours, it takes a few hours only to wake after the anesthesia, not to mention the nausea caused by it and the dizziness. So, bottom line, he's probably lying. Maybe laser. i agree with Mary, you can have a incision about two to three inches, but i don't believe he had that and was out in four or five hours, should have more then two stitches also, this is not a doctors office surgery Many surgeries are now done laprascopically, a few little stab marks/holes would be present for the surgeon to use as entry for his instruments,so stitches to these would be minimal.Because one is not exposed to the traditional incision, infection and pain are greatly reduced,which means barring any complications no hospital stay beyond immediate recovery from anesthesia and a little post-op observation would be required. Stitches usually are very minimal and often times little steri strips or surgical glue are used as well. Your friend's description of his experience is totally believable. It's possible with newer laser surgery instead of what we used to go through. |
