maybe you were lying on your pillow awkwardly at night or maybe you need a new pillow.........i get it often because of the way i was lying.
Go see a doctor if it's lasted that long. I had a sore shoulder for 2 weeks and knew it wasn't just from sleeping wrong. Went to the doctor for a simple blood test and found out I had rheumatoid arthritis. Sucks.
You may have spondilitis (sp?) or something. I used to get it so bad that I couldn't move. It was triggered by stress and lifting heavy objects.

Get a hot water bottle (or one of those herbal pillows you can heat) and apply to the affected area. Also, try and stretch out gently. And try not to lift heavy stuff!

If it's still gipping you next week, go to the doctor. Mine was recurring to the point that I had to have a bit of physio treatment.
depending on your age there is nothing unusual to get a stiff neck for a week or so if it gets worse or fails to improve then seek medical advice but it sounds like a common strain or chill
