Issue In an arm wrestle, what is the main muscle used and what is a good excercise for that muscle? Best Tip mainly biceps, some forearms and shoulder biceps (dumbell curl) forearms (forearm curl, flexors/extensors) shoulders (shoulder press, upright row, bench press) Others well to rotate your arm you need wrist (rollups) bicep(curls or isolation curls) and your triceps(kick backs) and then you have shoulders(rows) try that and see if you cant get some power Your biceps and triceps are the muscles, and arm curls with10-20 lb weights should do the trick in 3 sets of 10 reps to begin with. i believe you use the "bicep" in an arm wrestle, and a good excercise for the muscle, is to do bench press, chin-ups, or push-ups. I have a real close friend who (in 1999) was ranked 7th in the amateur armwrestling league. He taught me alot about the sport so I can help you on this one. Your forearms are your biggest asset. Breaking the leverage of the other party severely hampers their power, increasing your chance of winning. If you have the power to "roll" their hand then you are bound to win. Good Luck. If you want more strentgh, the forearm is probably your most powerful weapon. Arm wrestling is more about strategy, leverage, timing, and psyching out your opponent. The strongest arm wrestlers are not the ones that win the championships. It's like pinning someone in a greco-roman wrestling match, it's more about gaining an advantage in position and leverage. There are many muscles are involved. I will say though, the last time I arm wrestled I tore the muscles or tendons on the inside of my wrist. So that was the most important "muscle" to me. It took many years to heal and it isn't even near what it used to be. Never wrestled since. Wrestling days were over. |
