will cigarette smoking affect taking Xanax XR and how so?

disclaimer states not to smoke cigarettes while taking Xanax XR as it could affect the results but i am not sure exactly how serious to take it as it says not to do alot of things while on medicine just as a precaution. does anyone have any information about how cigarettes might interact with Xanax?

That's government propaganda just trying to get people to stop smoking. I've smoked and taken Xanax for years, they don't effect each other.

I have been on Xanax for about five years now and it hasn't seemed to have a negative effect on how it works for me. I have had great success with it. It has been the only tranquilzer that has worked for me.
Cigarettes enhance everything. Not to worry with xanax...May just make you more relaxed.

Yes, smoking will decrease the rate of absorption within the blood. Any benzodiazepine will work better if you don't smoke, however don't stop taking the medication with a consult from your doctor. He wil gradually want you to reduce the medication.
