Will ADHD Prevent Me Becoming a Sheriff's Deputy?

Issue
Will ADHD Prevent Me Becoming a Sheriff's Deputy?

Best Tip
It shouldn't. ADHD is very common; and if you can work past whatever difficulties it causes you to get the required schooling, pass the required tests, and be able to do the job, you should have no trouble becoming a deputy.

If your ADHD doesn't prevent you from doing the job, then you should be able to get the job. That probably means you'll have to work harder than most, but it should be possible.

You don't have to tell your employers that you have ADHD; generally they will ask only about physical disability and mental illness, and ADHD is neither one of those.

Others
Probbaly not, but then again I'm not in law enforcement. I have ADHD and I am doing pretty well in college.
God no! Have you ever MET a deputy?? Seems it is a prerequisite here in Maine! That, plus ignorance, bigotry, homophobia, low IQ, lack of masculinity etc etc etc
my brother has ADHD and he is a cop. he is now 27 years old and struggles with it a lot less now then in the past and anyways you will not be doing the same thing all the time when you are a sheriff you shouldn't have any issues good luck ...
ADHD is very easily treatable and those who are treated go on to live very fulfiling lives and careers! The trick is getting the right kinds of treatment...rarely does anyone function well with just medication. See a psychologist for other therapies. Good luck!
You can still be a sheriff with ADHD. You can go to your doctor and get the right medication for it. If you go to the website www.webmd.com you can learn more about it.
