Is anyone taking or has taken Depakote ER? |
Issue I have been on it since May 2006 and I have noticed it messes up my short term memory. Is this normal? Best Tip I've been taking Depakote/Epilim since mid-2000 and haven't had these sorts of problems, but mostly I've been on a low dose (400-800 mg/day). Report this side effect to your doctor and make sure s/he takes it seriously. Perhaps once you've stabilized you can take less of the drug? I've had to take an antipsychotic a couple of times to halt a manic episode. At 2 mg/day my blood pressure got so low I once almost passed out, but I tolerate .5 - 1 mg/day with no noticeable effects, so before you give up on a drug, tinker with the dosage. But the doctor will have to out weigh the risk and benefits with you. I have that and about 50 extra ponds been taking for 12 years it's the only thing that works for me or I would change.I've tried changes before it didn't work for me but it may for you.
