Is there a medical condidition for lieing? Is it cause he likes lieing or he can't help it? |
Issue My friend lies about anything to make himself look better. He lies about stuff to get what he wants also Best Tip he is a pathological liar. he lies to make himself look better to others, to get attention for others. often when he lies he probably almost believes it himself. i used to do this when i was young. i grew out of it for the most part, but every once in a while as an adult i'll find myself lying about something extremely trivial for no good reason. a lot of times this stems from something in childhood. as i recall from my experiences, there is almost nothing that can be done or said by a family member or friend to help this person. they will deny that they have a problem, or if you get them to admit it, they will not know why they do it or how to stop it. often times the lies dont really get them in "trouble", so there is no real reason to stop it. professional help for this person is really the only way. or, they could like me, grow out of it with age. as a friend of this person, i would suggest not giving in to what he wants. dont get really excited if he tells you "my mom won the lottery" or really upset when he says "my grandmother died". just act nonchalont (like you dont care) and move on to talking about something else. also, dont call him on the fact that hes lying. he'll just produce more lies and be extremely defensive when trying to prove that he is right. he will most definitely not admit he is lying. good luck. Others Sounds like a serious insecurity, or ego issue. Probably needs to see a shrink. he is a pathological liar. He probebly developed it in his childhood..probebly had shitty parents who never listened to him or cared for what he had to say. THe best medicine would be to let him know you won't take it and if he continues you will find a better class of friend. |
