child bed wetting,nail biting,eyelash pulling?

Issue
my granddaughter is5 and she is now pulling on her eyelashes, wetting the bed andnail biting. she never did this before

Best Tip
Starting school or changing classes/teachers can be a really stressful time for a child, and this can cause any/all of these problems. There are of course more serious causes, but start with the obvious, and ask her if something is bothering her.

If this persists over the next few months, take her to a sympathetic doctor.

Others
What change has she recently been thru to start this behavior>? Has anyone NEW been around her

Could be stress, anxiety, or fear of a new situation or change in people that she's around. That's a good place to start - ask her what's new in her life and really listen with connection, love, and support. Symptoms could aslo be a sign of trauma or abuse, or they could be due to a developing medical condition. I'd first try talking to her in a way that is safe and comfortable for her - see if it's something she just needs time to adjust and become familiar. If that doesn't yeild much, I'd take her to a pediatrician that can spend a little time with her and talk to that doctor about what's going on. Don't settle for a medical brush off, btw. You or her parents need to be her advocate.
she's probably nervous about some thing she may have a bully at school
Stacia, has a very informative answer for you.

I just want to add one word to her response "Sexual" abuse

A Friend of mine has a daughter that was 7 yrs old and she started wetting the bed. Mom didn't realize why until she had a long talk with her daughter, she had been raped. It's very hard for children at that age, the poor little girl felt she had to keep it a secret.
