What is the blood barrier of the brain and what can go through it? |

For example, I believe mannitol an osmotic diuretic passes the BBB to allow a possible decrease in IICP (increased intercranial pressure) in the trauma patient. Right? It's called the blood-brain barrier and it impervious. All of the blood needed in the brain is supplied by the carotid artery. If there is a light exchange on the other surface of the meninges, it is not vital for brain function. |
