Can't fall asleep even if I'm tired?

Issue
An example would be coming home from a long day of school and work and feeling exhausted, and when I lay down I don't get that nice "deep sleep" that feels good. I don't know why but naps are usually when I feel like I'm having good sleep.

Best Tip
I am the same way. I can be exhausted when I get home from work and then not be able to sleep at all for hours, then when it is to late to get a good nights sleep I will finally go to sleep and that makes the next day even worse. I usually sleep all weekend. On and off, of course. I don't think I ever sleep more then 4 hours at a time. I take anxiety meds and I think they are the only thing that even lets me sleep the little that I do. I try to self medicate as well and I know it doesn't help much either.

I might have anxiety, sleep apnea, or insolmnia....see a doctor...they might be able to help.

Good luck and if you find something please let me know.

Others
try spanking the monkey more often
take Bath with Bearable Hot water before sleeping n Drink a Normal Hot Glass Of Milk as well.....u ll hv gud sleep
Naps are the really good sleep for me as well. At night when I cannot sleep, I try to put my mind to work on something totally irrelevant to my life, like "if my whole family lived in this town, what districts would they live in?", or I try to design things in my head. I have found that the computer and television just stimulate my brain. Reading usually makes me tired, then if all else fails there is Benedryl, or Tylenol PM.
Maybe you should try some reading to wind your mind down before attempting to fall asleep.

Could be signs of insomnia. Is it that your mind is racing when you're trying to fall asleep?

You could try some Benadryl (diphenhydramine). That's the active ingredient is over the counter sleep aids. Or Melatonin for a different approach.

Personally, my doctor prescribed me Ambien because I have insomnia. It can be addicting - in a sense that people sometimes end up "depending" on it to fall asleep. And they came out with Ambien CR - which not only helps you fall asleep, but helps you stay asleep because it's controlled-release.

There are many approaches....you should consult with a physician to see what they suggest is best for you.

Sleep is very important to keep you mind sharp and alert throughout the day.

Good luck.
Wow,I thought it was Yahoo Tips,at first then i realized how silly that was!To go to bed and get all cozy then get back up to get on answers just one more time before I went to sleep. Here is the answer,we have a condition that is known as,"Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome."We cannot help ourselves this is a real disorder, look it up at, www.sleepdisorderchannel.com it will tell you all about it.The only thing I disagree with on there is taking narcotics and sleep meds.I believe we can do this without them.I certainly don't want to trade one problem for another. So let me recommend what I use right before I go to sleep, which is Mangosteen juice,2oz.before I go to sleep, really works to kill all the caffeine and restlessness I have. You may get some of that at www.andyhinson.com This is what I have researched and found to be exactly what I was looking for.PEACE AND SWEET DREAMS!!
I'm the same way... go to the dr
