Help with depression? |
Issue I looked at the sites and everything seems to show that I'm clinically depressed. I even took a test that said my results were consistant with moderately severe depression. So how do I tell my parents with out it looking like I've made everything up? Best Tip Hello there. I am also a person that struggles with depression. Don't be shy about it. Also don't tell everyone. I don't know how your parents are and if you know that they will laugh it off and say that it is all in the head then don't tell them. Go to a pshycologist and let him analise your status and prescribe some anti depresants for you. After that tell your parents how scared you were of telling them you are depressed and would like their support through this stage of your life. If they still don't support you then bugger them and just keep on taking your medication. Depresion is just a bad a illness as HIV. It is a serious matter and should not be taken lightly. Good luck. I am currently going off my meds and feel as good as ever. Others Get yourself a companion and stop looking up these mad sites...Let your parents know and they will help you,. dont let yourself go..you have everything to live for...cheer up.. Instead of focusing on what you might have (depression), if you focus on being honest & reaching out for help, they will respect your decision. Besides, only a professional can make a clinical diagnosis. You can say you "think" you might be depressed, but then again, it may be something else you're not aware of. Good luck. Why don't you retake the tests with your parents being present with you? They might change their mind once they see the results for themselves. Maybe its best to go and see a real doctor, I know those on line tests can say quite allot and vary with there answers. That way it may be easier to tell your family that a Doctor has diagnosed you with it. The Internet is great but most of those test do say you should consult a professional about it. Then if that's the case you can start getting some treatment it so much better to get the right treatment at the early stage before things can get more complicated. Well what do you feel you parents will say I am sure they will just understand and if they love you will support you in as many ways as they can. Good luck. Get a professional diagnosis. It can be treated very easily and change your life. you don't need to suffer. I'm assuming you are under age 18 - If I'm right - just let them know you haven't been feeling yourself lately and would really like to get a checkup - also tell them that you have been feeling this way for a while and you were hoping that it would pass or get better - but it hasn't - therefore you would like to go to the doctor to get a checkup. Then tell the doctor what you have been experiencing and about these sites etc... You will at least be headed in the right direction this way. If you are over the age of 18 - then just make an appointment or call your Doctor - who can refer you to the right Doctor for treatment of depression. It is not as uncommon as you might think - almost everyone goes through depression... Some are just more severe than others and might require a little more help to get back to your normal self. But do not feel that you are alone - not everyone tells others that they are depressed. The best thing is to get help as soon as you can so you can feel better sooner. If you do go to the Doctor - they will ask you quite a few questions to determine if indeed you are depressed or not and to determine the severity of the depression and if there are other things going on besides depression... Trust that the Doctor will be helping you to get better in the end....but if you do not like that Doctor - Do not give up - Go to another one. You might just click with the next one and be glad that you gave it a second chance instead of doing nothing about it. GOOD LUCK! |
