How do you handle ADD / ADHD aside from meds?

Issue
I was diagnosed with "severe" ADHD. I've been on Concerta 36 megs for two weeks. It helps temporarily but, rather than solving the problem entirely, it's like putting on a pair of glasses. Its like one piece of the puzzle is now there, but the rest are still missing,, there is no question that it's essential to me now though.

I have heard some do Yoga, exercise etc. to cope, what do you do that has helped?"

Best Tip
I know people who have taken up some type of art or crochet.. knitting are drawing... I am serious.. it has helped.. they tend to focus better and it keeps their mind working... try it.. what is the worse that can happen??? you might find a good way to keep busy and still be rather calm.. good luck.. :)

Yes, yoga and meditation really help. But you need to be consistent.

Also a healthy and balanced diet and avoiding all processed and artificial foods. Works like a miracle. Check to see if you have any food allergies, this also makes the problem worse.

Good luck.
Log on to the Brain Gym site below and follow the cues to get your country and state etc. Call the consultant see if they have a class to take. It is a little like yoga.
I use sticky notes and several calendars and call my voice message so I don't forget things. I have trouble listing to lectures or church, I can't really get directions or information by listening but find I can always find the same info somewhere else. I multi-task too much so try to slow down and take it one step at a time even if I get impatient with myself. I went to a support group for a while, seeing people worse off than me helped (!) but got a few good tips. So many people are..it's not so unusual..I can't think of anything you can't do! You are probably pretty bright, too!

A balanced diet & exerciae really helps, but you should really talk to your doctor about this. If you are only taking it for 2 weeks then this is about the time to evaluate it's effectiveness. Let your doctor know. The dosage could be wrong for you, everyone is different and could use a different dose. Also there are other medications that your doctor could prescribe if Concerta doesn't work properly.
