Issue Are mentally ill people just acting that way to get attention? Or are they truly crazy? Best Tip Are you a complete idiot? Others they are psychologically and physiologically this way that makes them mentally ill. most have a chemical imbalance ..not their fault ..things happen I hope your question is serious and not an attempt at being funny. Mental illness is a disease, not unlike a cancerous brain tumor that would force an otherwise healthy person to be unable to do certain things. I use that analogy to point out how we have no problem have empathy for and even caring for someone with an illness in other areas. Mental illness is no different than that. I've seen that with proper diagnosis and treatment (usually getting that person on the right combination of medications), a person with mental illness can experience grerat improvement. Depending on the severity and progression of the disease, they may lead perfectly normal lives -- right on to being unbale to properly function in society. They deserve care and concern as much as any heart or cancer patient. Well, that depends. Mental illness is, for the most part, caused by a imbalance in brain chemicals. Or it can be caused by head injuries. The things that a mentally ill person sees, hears, and feels are very real to them. It's almost as if they live in a different world than we do. I suffer from a mild form of depression and have anxiety attacks. When I have an anxiety attack, it's VERY real to me and no I don't do it to get attention. I also don't label myself (or anyone else suffering from mental illness) as "crazy". I lead a perfectly normal life, being married with 3 children. Lets put it this way, you would have to be in their shoes to understand. it depends....... If they are just acting , then you deserve an Oscar! |
