If have an anxiety provoking thought you have to tell yourself to stop. Some people will wear a rubber band around their wrist and every time they are anxious they will pull back on the rubber band. Another stopping technique is to draw a stop sign and to show it to yourself every time you get anxious. Another technique is just to yell stop loud enough to distract yourself from your own thinking. The goal is to decrease the frequency of the anxiety. Eventually overtime there will be less and less interventions. Medication is another big piece, but only goes so far. Good sleep, regular meals at regular intervals, and exercise are also key. Others exercise and do things that make you happy I have anxiety problems to, u migth want to try one of those stress balls, or counting till 10. or maybe turning off the ligths and just relaxing and talking urself out of ur anxiety. i suffer from an anxiety disorder. I take a mild antidepressant and antiu-anxiety medication every night before bed, and it really helps. i also use the anti-anxiety medicine when i am starting to experience a severe anxiety attack. call your doctor and schedule an appointment. however, if your anxiety isn't that severe, i highly reccommend yoga/pilates. both involve low impact stretching in a calming environment. also, cut out caffeine. you can actually give yourself caffeine anxiety attacks. good luck. Valium works for me. excersise get comfortable , close your eyes, and practice deep breathing...inhale---counting to 8...exhale slowly and visualize all your negative stress exiting your body...do this a few times.
