care of the elderly?

Issue
i take care of an elderly lady with alzheimers and my activities are so limited, any suggestions to occupy a lady of this category, she loves going out but now the weather is getting colder she hates it, what should i do ? she is very active! dont bother mentioning social clubs as she doesnt like being around a lot of people!

Best Tip
have u tried a memory box filled with items of when the lady was younger alzheimers long term memory is quite good there short term is often diffcult for them Source(s): working a number of years in careof the elderly

Others
Play board games, cards, paint, draw. Turn on some music and let her dance or teach her aerobics (since she is very active).
Put her on a boat and tell her to head south. I'll be waiting...
Try jig saw puzzles. When my mother and father were in a nursing home, there were many persons there with alzheimers, and they would give them jig saw puzzles to put together. It keeps them occupied and gives them something to do, while at the same time they were able to converse with each other. They seemed happy doing this. Most of them continued to put them together until the condition completely took over their mind. Also, perhaps you could play word games with her, like scrabble, and even crossword puzzles may help. Does she like music? Theyalso played music for these people and it seemed to relax them, some of them would even sing along. The more active her mind, the better off she will be. It would be worth a try. Good luck and God bless you.
If you are caring for a person in this situation you should be well
equipped with info. and/or a caregiver support meetings to be on
top of the situation.

There are many programs in society now to help you with this.

Check your local newspaper, hospital, or assisted living homes.

Classes are available.

good luck
What about looking through her family photos with her? Ask her if she can tell you about the people in the photos or point out people she doesnt recognise. Another good thing would be to listen to music that she likes or to watch films. It would depend how advanced her alzheimers is but I have known people with alzheimers who can still play dominoes or cards even if it is just a game of snap.
