What is the difference between a sycologist and a sycatrist? |
Issue I know both this departments are for mental treatment. but what is the difference between these two? Best Tip A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who has specialized in mental health. They are able to write prescriptions for psychiatric drugs. A psychologist has undergone training to counsel people. So in the case of a mental illness, a psychiatrist might make the diagnosis and prescribe and monitor the treatment while a psychologist works with the patient to help them learn to cope with their problems. Others A psychiatrist prescribes the drugs you need that your psychologist recommends. One has a prescription license and the other doesn't!! Medical school. A psychologist is not a medical doctor. (There is no such thing as a prescription license.) a psychiatrist can prescribe medications and the psychologist can not... A psychiatrist is a medical doctor and as such has completed medical school and usually will have the letters M.D. or D.O after his name. A pscyhologist has studied pscyhology and human behavior as well as psychological theory and has a Ph.D. Psychologist will usually do psychotherapy, psychological testing and counseling. Psychiatrists will usually do medication and some of them also do psytherapy. ONE HAS A FOUR YEAR DEGREE AND THE OTHER HAD A DOCTRATED. YOU FIGURE OUT WHICH IS WHICH A pschologist deals primarily with counceling and the like. A psychiatrist actually has a medical degree, and deals mostly with drug therapy. |
