what exercises...........?

Issue
what excercise would be good for a 54 year old man who had a stroke 5 years ago? its my dad and his left side is really weak and he has trouble walking so any advise would be appreciated.

please only real answers

Best Tip
Tai Chi would be of benefit to your dad. It strengthens a bit, but would really help him with his balance, range of motion, and dexterity. It also is supposed to aid in the prevention of memory loss (sometimes associated with stroke victoms).

He can do the movements seated or standing, depending on his balance/ leg strength.

Water aerobics (or just moving around in a pool at shoulder/chest depth) will greatly restore his strength and cardiovascular health. He should watch out for dehydration though, as the sweat goes right into the pool.

Good luck to you and your dad.

Others
Yoga would be perfect. It is gentle and can build strength.
hun,i don't know about your area, but over here the YMCA,have this aquasices classes, and they're for that, for people having troublr with exercisinglow impact exercises are good for him too,
Ti-Chi...excellent for balance....many Ti-Chi movements are used in balance training during physical therapy
