Issue Is it possible to have an infection but no rise in temperature. I think I may have a sinus infection but my doctor has given me nose drops which help but don't cure. As I do not have a temperarure he has not offered me an antibiotic. I also think that the sinus problem has a lot to do with the ringing in my ears as when my blocked nose clears for a while the ringing goes away or is very faint. Best Tip Yes, u can most definitely have an infection without having a fever. Source(s): I am a respiratory therapist. Others Your doctor is wise to withhold antibiotics in what may be an allergic condition. yes, a sinus infection is not necessarily bacterial. due to the structure of the sinuses, viral sinus infections linger longer than a regular cold. the ringing in your ears probably is related. however, it is possible that you had a fever at the beginning and it subsided. that happened to me. of course, i could tell it was not just a cold. i was much sicker. with most colds, i don't want to get our of bed, but i can make myself. with the sinus infection, i could barely hold myself upright. the point... if you are still sick after a few weeks, and you know it isn't allergies, go back and get checked out again. *drink as much water as you can to thin out the nasal secretions; this will help the sinuses to drain. *keep the air in your sleeping area moist with a vaporizer *you can irrigate the nasal cavity which helps with sinus infection and allergies (do a yahoo search for nasal irragation for tips) hope you feel better soon! |
