I have been having some headaches that are so bad I can't even function. My doctor scheduled an MRI? |
Issue My doctor scheduled the MRI for tomorrow morning. But did not explain what it is. Can some one explain it to me? He didn't give any special instructions. Is there any thing I need to do to prepare for it? Thank you Best Tip I am assuming since is for your headaches it will be an MRI of the head. Basically it will take images of your brain. To show any abnormalities if any. So that he can rule out certain problems such as tumors etc.. The only thing you need to do is make sure you remove ALL metal from your body. Source(s): I work in the medical field Others the same thing happened to me and in the mri they didn't find anything, so i then went to an eye doctor and found out i had pressure behind my eyes and now i wear glasses First MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. You will lie on a table that will move into a tube. You will be in constant verbal contact with the person performing the scan. If you are claustrophobic, ask for a sedative. It is a small space. Unless of course you will have yours done at one of the new Open MRI facilities. Check out the web page below and ask the technician when you go for the scan to answer any questions you may still have. Don't be afraid to ask. And if you are religious, pray for understanding of what is happening and peace of mind that what is happening is for the best. Your doctor wouldn't have ordered this if he/she didn't feel it necessary to rule out anything serious. NOTE: Anyone from the housekeeping staff to the doctors at a hospital can say they work in the medical field. Even pharmaceutical reps can say that. Talk to your doctor, nurse, etc. And educate yourself. There is loads of information on the web.
